Chengdu Neusoft University and Letterkenny Institute of Technology (Ireland) Add Scores

The press conference on China-Ireland higher education was held in Embassy of Ireland on March 18th. Eoin O』Leary, Irish Ambassador, Joseph McHugh, Director of Department of Education and Skills (Ireland), and Giles O』Neill from Irish Education Promotion Agency attended the conference. Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) and Chengdu Neusoft University signed the official 「3+1」 Cooperative Project with Computer Science Department and Digital Art Department and Cooperation Memorandum of Innovative Entrepreneurship Education Center. This is another major cooperation progress since the official launch of cooperation in 2016.

The 2 universities will hold an innovative entrepreneurship competition in LYIT campus on April 2019. Students from these 2 universities will take their innovation project to attend the competition. In the future, the 2 universities will launch more cooperation on academics, industry & education and government communication.

The 2 universities have already launched several cooperation programs like studying abroad, teachers』 visits and cultural communication. On September 2017, the unveiling ceremony of LYIT-CNU Innovative Entrepreneurship Education Center was held in the campus. By building a great education cooperation platform, the 2 universities enforced their responsibility of international education and cultural inheritance. Meanwhile, the cooperation has strengthened the friendship between the city of Letterkenny and Dujiangyan.

During the conference, Joseph McHugh, Director of Department of Education and Skills (Ireland) spoke highly of the deep educational cooperation between China and Ireland. He said that Ireland will keep providing convenience to Chinese students on visa policies and commits to increasing the success rate for Chinese students working in Ireland after graduation. Moreover, Joseph McHugh mentioned that Chinese language education has been strengthened in Ireland. Chinese will be included into the curriculum of Irish language education in 2020.

The cooperation between LYIT and Chengdu Neusoft University promoted the development of the educational work of the 2 schools and enforced the friendly communication between China and Ireland. It will provide more possibilities for the international development for both countries.
